The Public Safety Chaplaincy will be hosting our annual benefit dinner on Friday Feb 10, 2023 at Southwest Bible Church in Beaverton.  Please join us from 5:30- 8:00pm for a great meal and an opportunity to hear from First Responders and Chaplains about the important work that PSC and the First Responder Chaplains are doing in our community.  Click here to register.

Oregon Chaplains Academy

The Public Safety Chaplaincy is proud to oversee the Oregon Chaplain’s Academy which trains Chaplains in basic and advanced skills that are critical to their roles.  To learn more about the Oregon Chaplain’s academy please visit their website at https://oregonchaplainsacademy.com

Federation of Fire Chaplains - Essentials Class - November 12 & 19, 2022
 
The Essentials of Fire Chaplaincy is a foundational training course for the fire department chaplain. This two-day course, hosted by Public Safety Chaplaincy, will be held over two consecutive Saturdays so people who work during the workday may participate. This course is the basic course by the Federation of Fire Chaplains and is a requirement for membership in the Federation of Fire Chaplains.

This course provides an opportunity for everyone - experienced chaplains and new chaplains alike - to understand the fundamentals of fire chaplaincy. The class consists of 16 hours of instruction, over the course of two Saturdays, covering the following areas:
  • History of Chaplaincy 
  • Personhood of the Chaplain
  • Ministry to Crisis Victims
  • Ministry to Fire Personnel
  • Introduction to Critical Incident Stress
  • Introduction to Incident Command
  • Fire Chaplain Safety
  • Firefighter Injury and Death
  • Fire Department Funerals
  • Confidentiality & Professionalism

You must be present for the entire 16 hours of instruction to receive a certificate for the course from the Federation of Fire Chaplains. If you want a copy of the FFC manual, one can be purchased on your own here.
